The Sun from the EAST is a digital collaboration single by BMSG EAST, a unit consisting of BMSG artists and trainees born in Eastern Japan: soloists SKY-HI, Novel Core, and Aile The Shota; JUNON, LEO, and SOTA of BE:FIRST; TAKUTO and HAYATO of MAZZEL; and trainees RUI, TAIKI and KANON.

It was released on September 18, 2023 to commemorate BMSG's third anniversary.

Background and Release[]

At exactly midnight on September 18, 2023, BMSG's third anniversary, BMSG made a surprise drop of the two unit songs by BMSG EAST and BMSG WEST. The units were announced a few months prior on June 23 as part of the lineup for BMSG FES '23. Although they were expected to each have their own songs, there was no notice on when they would be released.

To go along with the East and West theme, the songs have sounds similar to that East Coast and West Coast hip-hop.

Specifically for EAST: "The 11 members of the group playfully intertwine with each other through a mic relay on an up tempo track with an impressive horn section created by Ryosuke "Dr.R" Sakai, each demonstrating their individual talents and skills. The song is a party hip-hop tune reminiscent of the East Coast in the 2000s."[1]

The song's basework was laid out by SKY-HI and Aile The Shota, who got together at SKY-HI's house and decided which parts would be sung by which members. After that, all members got together at BMSG's office and wrote their lyrics. It was the first time writing lyrics for TAKUTO and HAYATO, so everyone gave them advice.[2]
