3rd BOYS GROUP AUDITION PROJECT "THE LAST PIECE" is an ongoing audition held by Japanese management company BMSG to form their third boy group.

RUI, TAIKI and KANON, as well as other BMSG Trainees, will participate alongside candidates chosen from the general public.

The audition process will be broadcast on TBS' "THE TIME" morning news show from the end of June 2025.

Background

The audition was announced on September 23, 2024 at BMSG FES '24, where RUI, TAIKI and KANON's participation was confirmed.

It has been four years since I announced the opening of the audition and training program "THE FIRST" in 2020. The atmosphere in the Japanese entertainment and music industry has certainly changed. I am truly happy that we are getting closer to a society where anyone can dream in any form, and I am proud and aware that I have been able to contribute to this era. I have gained a lot. I have cultivated countless things. I think it is wise to live my life protecting these assets so as not to lose them. But there are still things I must accomplish. There are things I must prove. For that reason, I will risk my career, my life, my fortune, and everything to start this project once again. BMSG is serious. We are serious about turning the world upside down. We are proud of the know-how we have gathered here. If reading this has stirred something within you, perhaps you are the final piece we’re looking for. Audition Details

• Application Requirements:
  1. Male
  2. 19 years old or younger as of January 31, 2025
  3. Born on February 1, 2005 or younger
  4. No nationality requirements
     • If residing outside of Japan, must be able to attend the training camp(s) in Japan
  5. If under contract with any agencies, record labels, or production companies, must follow regulations from said company before applying (i.e. if under contract, must have permission to apply and sign a contract with BMSG afterwards)
  6. Must be able to work as a BMSG artist or trainee after passing the audition
• Application Deadline: January 31, 2025

Audition Process

1st Round: Document Screening

Application acceptance started on November 1, 2024 at 00:00 JST and ended on January 31, 2025 at 23:59 JST.

Candidates were asked to:

• Declare their birthday, height and shoe size.
• State their dancing, singing and rapping experience in years and months.
• Submit a full body picture and a portrait picture.
• Submit a video of them dancing and another one singing or rapping.
• Describe their background, reason for applying, and anything else they'd like to share (self PR).
• List their special skills/talents, the artists they admire (outside of BMSG artists), and favorite music genres.

Applicants who passed the document screening originally would have been contacted at the end of February 2025, but due to an unexpected high number of applications, it extended into March.
On March 24, the document screening came to an end with all successful candidates being contacted.

2nd Round: Interview Screening

The second round of the audition originally would have taken place in person in March 2025, but due to the high number of applications, it was pushed back to April.
