Ajiro Seito (網代聖人 born December 26, 2001 in Hyogo, Japan), known professionally as SEITO (セイト), is a Japanese rapper, singer and dancer under Japanese management company BMSG as a member of boy group MAZZEL, formed through documentary program MISSIONx2. He made his debut with the group with "Vivid" in May 2023.

Prior to joining BMSG, SEITO was a member of Zero PLANET and LADY steady GO. He was also active as a breakdancer and model, and released music as a soloist.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

SEITO started taking hip-hop and breaking dance classes in kindergarten, at his city's community center[1] inspired by Satoh Takeru's character in Kamen Rider Den-O[2][1]. He began taking breaking more seriously at 9 years old during his fourth year of elementary school[3], when he stopped attending the community center[1] and headquartered his dance activities mainly in Osaka, where he practiced three to four hours every day [4]. His teacher was b-boy Kaku from world-famous dance crew MORTAL COMBAT, which SEITO got to join while he was in middle school[1]. Over the years, he took part in many competitions, both solo and with his crew LEZIT, and won many awards.

SEITO was painfully shy when he was little, but he loved music and he loved to be in front of people. Dancing helped him both express himself and be in the center of attention, which gave him confidence. While the training he underwent (which included karate and boxing practice) was very intense, he never thought of quitting, because he found it truly fun. He was very serious and disciplined about it, to the point that when he decided to commit to breaking, he threw away his game consoles and other toys because "he didn't need anything else anymore"[1].

In 2016, SEITO attended AAA's dome concert in Osaka and realized how great artists could be. From there, he wanted to become an artist, but since he had decided that he wanted to be the world's best breakdancer[3], he brushed that dream aside. However, he would always tell his friends that someday he would work with SKY-HI[1].

2016-2018[]

On July 18, 2016 he won the first place in the "Battle of the Year U-15 Breaking Solo Battle".
In August 2017 he was appointed an official model for apparel brand Freeasy Clothing [5]
From December 2017 until August 2018 he was a member of the avex dancemaster special dance crew OdoMen[6]. For this chance, he had to audition, and the dance instructor was Kazuki from s**t kingz. He believes this experience was a trigger for him to start advancing towards his artist dream[1].

In 2018, he decided to join the popular Danshi Kousei Mr. Con contest in hopes of spreading awareness about breakdancing. On September 24, he won the Kansai area Grand Prix and advanced to the finals[3]. On December 27, he received the Model Press Award, as well as the chance of signing with agency Platinum Production[4].
On December 30, 2018 SEITO signed with agency LVS[7], but he left sometime around November 2019 after transferring to Platinum Production.

2019-2020[]

On January 25, 2019 he released "Bright story" as part of Black★Alpha, his Danshi Kousei Mr. Con unit.
From January to March 2019 he appeared in "Ookami-kun ni wa Damasarenai"[8].
On March 25, 2019 he joined Zero PLANET and officially signed with Platinum Production[9].
In July 2019 he joined the TikTok unit LADY steady GO. They released only one single, "Jump", in January 2020.[10]
In December 2019, he started modeling exclusively for TEENS magazine [11]
From December 2019 to January 2020 he appeared in the stage play "RADICAL PARTY -7ORDER-".[12]
On August 2, 2020 he modeled at Tokyo Girls Collection teen 2020 Summer online. [13]
On December 28, 2020 he graduated from Zero PLANET and TEENS.

SEITO found this two year period rewarding, as he got to do a lot of different activities, but he also quickly realized that he was "just an idol", i.e. popular for his looks and not for the music he was making, which was what he really wanted. Around this time he met SKY-HI and confided his worries in him[1].

2021[]

On March 31, he left Platinum Production [9].
On May 21 he released his first digital single NEW FACE.
On May 31 he was featured in the song Sunao ni Narenai Kimi he by rapper SHuN-BOX.
On August 13 he released his second digital single Dear My Honey.
In September, he started his own apparel brand, "Bouvardia". He held his first fanmeeting event, "Summer Fan Meeting cafe&bar", to celebrate its launch on September 19-20.[14]
Around November, he joined the BMSG Trainees after being scouted by SKY-HI[1]. However, his status was undisclosed until January 2023.

2022[]

During 2022, SEITO took part in MISSIONx2 as part of the pre-debut line-up of MAZZEL.
On March 14, he released the digital single Ai mo Kawarazu under the name RGK.
On April 18, he performed at Yotsuya no Clover Vol. 19.

2023[]

On January 13, SEITO was revealed to be a member of MAZZEL.
On March 31, MAZZEL released their pre-debut single MISSION.
On May 17, MAZZEL released their debut single Vivid.

Artistry[]

Since young, SEITO liked Western music and R&B due to the influence of his mother, who would play artists such as the Backstreet Boys and Ne-Yo[1]. In fact, the first CD he ever bought was Ne-Yo's "Year of the Gentleman"[15]. He also liked the so-called "b-boy beats" such as African music, 90s hip-hop, and artists like James Brown, Snoop Dogg and RHYMESTER, as well as Showa era songs, about which he learned from going to karaoke with his parents[1].

A song that is particularly important to him as a dancer is LINKIN PARK's "Faint". MORTAL COMBAT used it often in battles, and so did he after he started performing solo[1].

The first artist he became a fan of after finding them himself was AAA, of which SKY-HI is a member. He learned about them through "Climax Jump", which was the theme song for Kamen Rider Den-O, but got really into them after seeing their "AAA Special Live 2016 in Dome -FANTASTIC OVER-". It was a huge day for him, not only because it was the first time he attended a concert, but because he learned that artists were really cool and that this was also a great way to convey music. He credits them for igniting his artist dream[1].

During his time in Zero PLANET, he was repeatedly told that his voice would "never sell" and was constantly denied the opportunity to sing, which caused him great trauma and made him become a negative person, despite originally being very positive[1]. SKY-HI was the only person to ever tell him that his voice was wonderful and even gave SEITO all his recording equipment so he could start writing songs by himself. SKY-HI's presence was the reason why SEITO never gave up on his dream of becoming an artist. He admires him not only as an artist, but as a person, and wanted to help SKY-HI make his dreams come true, too[1].

Thanks to MAZZEL and SKY-HI, he has been able to regain his confidence and find who he is as an artist. He realized he has an explosive power and low voice that he wants to make use of within the group. Off-stage, he meets up with the members the most during their free time. He wants to support TAKUTO behind the scenes in his role as leader, so he's happy the other members come to him for advice[1].

His goals for the group are to be loved by many people, perform at a dome and overseas. For himself, he wants to work with a band, start a unit with SHUNTO and act[1].

Personal Life[]

Name Meaning
SEITO's given name, "聖人", means "holy, saint, sage, master" (聖) and "person" (人). It can also be read as the word "seijin" (せいじん), meaning "saint" or "wise and virtuous person".
SEITO's father is a big Matsuda Seiko fan, so the SEI (聖) in SEITO's name is taken from her name (聖子). If SEITO had been a girl, he was going to name him after Seiko[16].

Family
SEITO's mother's name is Shihomi[17]. His father, Yoshiro, owns and runs an independent car repair and used car shop that's been in business for over 40 years[18]. SEITO grew up around cars and developed a love for them. He even expected to start working at the shop after graduating from high school and eventually take over the business[19].

He has two older sisters, both older than him by over 10 years. One of them, named Yukino (優貴乃)[20], has a son named Ryu (琉, b. February 13, 2013), who SEITO considers a little brother[21][22].

His family keeps two toy poodles [23]. He also used to have a hamster named Kinako [24] and a female dachshund named Nuts, which passed away on June 12, 2017[25].
His grandmother passed away on June 26, 2021 [26].

SEITO moved to Tokyo on his own in 2018. He was very lonely, with a "hole in his heart" that was filled after he met SKY-HI in 2019. He would occasionally hang out with him and he became SEITO's emotional support. Even when SEITO couldn't eat, SKY-HI would invite him to eat at his house or would take him to get yakiniku[1].
As a result of their co-starring in Ookami-kun, SEITO dated actress Yamanouchi Suzu briefly during 2019. [27] It is unknown when they broke up.

SEITO's family was supportive of his career and rooted for him, but they were also worried. When he made it into MAZZEL, he went back to Hyogo to tell his parents, who were so happy for him that they cried[15].

Education
In March 2020, he graduated from Asuka Mirai High School, a correspondence school, in Tokyo[28], after transferring from Hyogo's Mukonoso High School [29] in 2019.
He did not pursue higher education.

SEITO was always aware of the importance of his studies, so he would work really hard in them, but he had a difficult time balancing them with his instense dance schedule[1]. He was in the swimming and soccer clubs[30], and used to attend an eikaiwa school. He was good at English and physical education[31].

SEITO didn't really get along with his classmates when he was young because the lives they led were fundamentally different, so their values and sensibilities didn't match, and he would hang out with his dance friends instead. He would often get told that he was a show off just because he was dancing[1]. However, as he got older, he was always excited to meet people and make new friends at the start of a new school year[15] and even got to be the Sports Representative on the Student Committee for Sports Day[32].

While he lived in Hyogo, he worked part time as a break dance instructor at jackpot dance studio[33] as well as at a yakiniku restaurant [34]. He continued working part time throughout his time as a Zero PLANET member in Tokyo.
