MISSIONx2

MISSIONx2 (read Mission Mission) is the documentary audition program following the formation of BMSG's second boy group, MAZZEL. It was streamed on BMSG's YouTube channel every Friday at 21:00 JST from January 13, 2023 to March 30, 2023.

Outline[]

The "BMSG 2nd Group Project" was launched to give birth to the second boy group from BMSG, following BE:FIRST.
Trainee RAN and other members were auditioned from the public and the strongest members were carefully selected. In order to create a world-class group, not only performance, but also social skills, intelligence, and the ability to absorb such learning were subject to screening. In addition to the usual audition practice of songs, dance basics, and vocal basics, the program also includes English songs, book reports, art appreciation, acting lessons, discussions, and lectures by invited university instructors. This documentary program follows the members as they experience and grow through various "MISSIONS" to improve their skills as well as form professionalism and improve their attitudes toward life!

The show will also provide a glimpse into the training of BMSG Trainees, as well as the audition process with participants recruited from the general public![1]

Summary[]

The documentary showcases footage from both the training of the initial tentative line-up of MAZZEL, comprised of four BMSG Trainees, and BMSG AUDITION 2022, held to select additional members for the group.

Training Process[]

Four BMSG Trainees, RAN, REIKO, KAIRYU and SEITO, were tasked with forming a special "pseudo-group". As such, they would have to perform DA PUMP's "CORAZÓN" and an original song, Fantasy, in front of SKY-HI. After this special showcase, REIKO decided to withdraw from the project due to health problems.
The training continued for the three remaining members, who learned Bye-Good-Bye and later went through a week long intensive training camp, where they learned Gifted. and were later told that they would be going to a month long training camp with the finalists chosen from the audition.

Audition Process[]

The audition's second round had the candidates give a singing or rapping performance and a dance performance to a song from a designated list.
23 boys took part in the third round, where they were split into four teams and were tasked with learning the choreography to an assigned song, Be Free, which they had to perform the next day.
12 boys were selected to take part in the training camp alongside RAN, KAIRYU and SEITO:

Training Camp[]

RAN, KAIRYU and SEITO were joined by the 12 finalists from the BMSG AUDITION 2022 for a month long training camp in Osaka. However, the camp was interrupted halfway through when one of the contestants was infected with COVID-19, and resumed around a month later in Tokyo.
All candidates had to go through a series of screenings and subsequent eliminations.
