Suzuki Hayato (鈴木颯人 born January 1, 2005 in Tokyo, Japan), known professionally as HAYATO (ハヤト), is a Japanese singer and dancer under Japanese management company BMSG as a member of boy group MAZZEL, formed through documentary program MISSIONx2. He made his debut with the group with "Vivid" in May 2023.
Prior to joining BMSG, HAYATO was active as an actor and appeared in a variety of movies, dramas, commercials and theater productions.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
HAYATO was interested in the entertainment industry since he was little due to the influence of his family, who loved singing, dancing, musicals and shows of all kinds[1]. He started attending Theatre Academy in kindergarten as a hobby, after his older sister, who was also attending, asked him if he wanted to try it out. After seeing Suzuki Fuku, who was the same age as him, act on TV, he decided that he wanted to take acting seriously and signed on for representation with Theatre Academy in 2013, when he was in third grade[1][2]. HAYATO starred in multiple tokusatsu and taiga dramas, as well as in a series of stage plays[3], and other jobs over the years, but he never felt like he was working and saw it more as a way of doing what he enjoyed[1].
Singing, in particular, was something HAYATO loved very much since elementary school and thought he was good at. However, his voice changed a lot during puberty, which left him feeling very frustrated with himself and he lost his confidence. To make up for it, he took a lot of singing lessons, but it took him a long time to get over it, and it was a very painful period of his life[1].
HAYATO had decided that he would become an actor and started seriously taking more lessons, including acting and sword fighting, and he wasn't interested in becoming an artist beyond thoughts in passing[1]. However, after the COVID-19 pandemic started and he had to leave his agency, he wasn't getting any jobs and thought he should quit acting altogether[1]. During his middle school years, he had seen Japanese people being active in K-pop and the artist fire was lit, so by the time he started high school and decided to stop acting, he thought that if the acting path was cut off, he had no choice but to follow the artist path, originally aiming to debut in K-pop[1].
HAYATO started doing girls' dances as a hobby in elementary school, influenced by his sister. Once he started high school, he realized that it was his strength, so he began taking girls' dance classes to improve and perfect the craft[1].
2021-2022[]
In 2021, HAYATO enrolled in the Next in Dance Academy course[4], where he quickly found that he wasn't able to pull off "male" choreography and his instructor told him to quit the girls' classes. As a result, he thought that if he kept going he wouldn't be able to become an artist, and that he needed to improve his weaknesses instead of his strengths, so he stopped doing femme styles altogether for about a year[1].
It was around this time that he found out about BE:FIRST and was thoroughly impressed by their talent and the quality of their output, being surprised that something like this could be done in Japan. After researching BMSG, he really liked the "to not kill talent" motto, which attracted him because he thought he would be able to use all of the talents he had cultivated throughout his acting career, as well as the things he had to abandon because of what others told him, and decided that he wanted to debut with them instead of in Korea[1].
During 2022, HAYATO took part in MISSIONx2.
2023[]
On February 10, HAYATO was revealed to be a member of MAZZEL.
Artistry[]
HAYATO thinks performing in musicals and performing as an artist are very similar, in the sense that you always "become someone else" on stage. He's very attracted to artists who "become possessed" by the music[1]. He always uses "different versions of himself" on stage, depending on what the song demands: if it's a song that is cuter or softer, he just reveals his natural self, but if it's a cooler song, he puts on a bit of an act to match the personalities of the rest of MAZZEL. In order to "create himself", he combines his own style and the styles of his fellow members, absorbing the best parts of each one[1].
HAYATO thinks a huge part of who he is an artist is comprised by just trying various things he's never done before and discovering new sides of himself[1]. However, he strongly believes that his experience doing female dancing is a fundamental part of his color, and was very relieved when SKY-HI told him during MISSIONx2 that he didn't need to get rid of that part of himself and that it could be "a secret ingredient". Since then, he has been practicing how to bring it out little by little, trying to achieve a balance between female and male dance styles[1].
He considers his voice to be very distinctive and thinks that's the uniqueness he brings to MAZZEL. He believes he makes all songs sound a bit brighter, even the heavy ones, transporting listeners to a different world[1]. His goal for the group is to perform in a lot of different venues and sing different types of songs, but most importantly, to always stay together[1].
His goal as an artist is "to give and share happiness"[1]. On a personal level, he wants to get acting jobs (since he still loves acting) and jobs related to Disney[5]

Friendships
- NAOYA: He became close with NAOYA since being a part of MAZZEL. They will hang out and watch movies together (sometimes at his house and sometimes at the theaters).
Family
He has an older sister, Koharu (b. 2000)[3]. They are very close and she has been a huge influence on all aspects of his life. She helped him apply for BMSG AUDITION 2022 and constantly praises him and tells him she is proud of him[1].
While his mom's wish for him was to attend university and was very worried and anxious about him becoming an artist, she supported his dream and is now very happy that he is in MAZZEL[1].
Education
In March 2023, HAYATO graduated from high school. He attended a school that was attached to a university[1].
He planned on going to university and had prepared for it, even taking the entrance exam (despite not studying particularly hard for it). However, he had a lot of doubts on whether to attend or to become an artist, given that the prep period overlapped with MISSIONx2, and in the end decided not to go and to fully focus on MAZZEL[1]-
